Coffee maker
Round plate

12 egg yolks
½ kg of sugar
1 kg of mascarpone cheese
60 lady fingers biscuits
coffee quantity as required
low fat cocoa powder

• Prepare the coffee and leave it to cool in a bowl.
• Beat the 12 yolks with the sugar with the whisk and incorporate the mascarpone to obtain a soft cream.
• Wet the 30 lady fingers with some coffee, taking care not to soak them too much and arrange them in a line in the centre of a round plate.
• Spread half of the cream mixture on the lady fingers and add another layer of 30 lady fingers wet with coffee, then spread the remaining mascarpone cream on the surface.
• Sprinkle the mascarpone with some sieved cocoa.
• Leave it in the fridge the serving time.

It is served cold, on dessert plates or in small cups.

Kids partecipation
Kids could give a final touch to the arrangement of the lady fingers on the plate. They could also soak them in the coffee, but after getting many of them reduced to mush, mothers will thank and continue on their own.

Nutritional and cultural curiosities
Its origins date back to the Middle Ages: tiramisu is inspired by a trifle, but the typical Italian tradition consists in using zabaglione (replaced by the egg yolk) together with whipped cream and dry biscuits. The authorship of the dessert is disputed by Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Useful tips
It is recommended to replace mascarpone with ricotta for a lighter version.
